Seal Revitalization Project

Seal has been and still is an important expression for coastal Arctic culture but nowadays it is at risk to be forgotten along the North Norwegian coast line.

The Seal Revitalization Project strives for the goal to reintroduce seal to coastal communities of Northern Norway and hereby revitalizes a cultural thread that was passed down for generations.

The steps taken so far consisted in
The Seal Feast (2017)
Handmade Sealkies (2019)

The third step of this project is a 10-days workshop in collaboration with the Mearrasiida, the Center for Coastal Sami Culture in Billefjord that is planned September 15-24, 2021.
